As part of the construction of a new high school and technical center, Burlington School District is working on the demolition of the old campus at 52 Institute Road. As you know, the old campus sits on a site that has been determined to contain hazardous building materials and contaminated soil. The District has prepared a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) to address hazardous building materials and contaminated soil at the site. The CAP has been approved by the Department of Environmental Conservation, to ensure these materials are cleaned up safely and effectively in accordance with state and federal regulations. If you have questions about this plan, you are welcome to attend a Public Comment Meeting to discuss the CAP. All CAPs have a 30-day public comment period, and this meeting supports that period. This meeting will be held in person on Thursday, January 12 at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria at Downtown BHS.
Public Comments can also be submitted electronically via the Department of Environmental Conservation’s website, where the CAP has been posted.
