Kellie Klasen has been named Executive Director of Burlington School District (BSD) Student Support Services. Klasen joined BSD in November of 2022 as an Associate Director and stepped in as Acting Director in January 2023. Superintendent Flanagan recommended her as the next leader of the department at the March 21st school board meeting, and the Board unanimously approved her appointment.
“I am thrilled to welcome Kellie Klasen to BSD’s leadership team,” said Superintendent Flanagan. “She has a wealth of experience in special education and she has done a great job building relationships with our building leaders these past two months. I am excited that she will continue to guide our district as we work to serve our students and ensure all learners in BSD are challenged, empowered, and engaged.”
“I am excited to be a part of the shift in the dynamic at Burlington School District in regard to inclusivity and student support services,” said Klasen. “The positive energy that staff show in wanting to meet student needs is palpable and exciting, and I’m looking forward to supporting and fostering that energy any way I can.”
Flanagan noted that Klasen spent five years as a Student Services District Coordinator in another state, and came highly recommended for the role. She’s also received high praise from the District’s leadership team during her time as acting director.
Klasen’s promotion is effective immediately.
