Summer Racial Justice Academy 5 Community of Care/PSA Team
The PSA work started originally in the Summer Racial Justice Academy 4 in 2024. Student leaders focused on making change expressed concern about hate speech in schools and general conduct. They wanted to create public messages that could be shared with the student body to emphasize a community of care. The work expanded in the Spring of 2025 thanks to a Community Schools Grant. The Office of Equity established a PSA team of middle and high schoolers and worked with youth videographers from AALV Media to create even more messages of kindness and hope. Then the work continued in the Summer of 2025 with a new PSA capstone group. These PSAs are written and directed by students. They are by students for students and their messages are earnest and powerful. Feel free to use these PSAs to help spread the positive messages in your own schools!
