Parent University Sessions
Welcome to Parent University! Burlington School District (BSD)’s Parent University is excited to announce that we will be continuing our sessions during the 2024-2025 school year. We will be hosting a variety of different classes, online and in person. New session offerings will continue to be added. Check back often. Here is our current schedule of classes:
Mondays: Math Class for Parents and Students, 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- Son Do will be leading a math refresher course for parents and their children at the Flynn Elementary School Library. He will be covering a wide range of math topics, including Numbers, Operations on Numbers, Fractions, Decimals, Percent and Percentages, Ratios and Rates, Beginning Algebra, Data and Statistics, Probability, Geometry, Measurement, Time, Money, and Symbols. This class will be offered on Mondays beginning September 16, 2024 from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM.
Tuesdays: Parenting Group, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM (Start date to be determined)
- Through a Howard Center and Burlington School District/Parenting University partnership, we’re excited to offer a eight-week Parenting Group for Swahili speakers! The group will be a space for conversation and mutual learning around parenting adolescent children. It will be co-facilitated by Sharon Moran, Amanda Moore (social workers from the Howard Center who work with schools) and Aline Kwizera (Burlington School District). Childcare may be available as well as snacks and beverages. We hope you’ll join us!
Wednesdays: Beginning English Class with Denise, 4:30-6:00 PM
- This class will be held in-person at DtBHS room 152. We will use computers to access online materials and activities in reading, writing and speaking English.
Thursdays: Computer Class at the O.N.E Community Center, 4:30 – 6:30 PM
- These classes are offered in partnership with the Janet S. Munt Family Room. They are open to anyone who is interested in learning the computer, at any level. Childcare is not available for these classes.
Fishing Event: Friday, October 4, 2024, 4:00 PM-7:00 PM
