“We are Grateful that Burlington Voters Continue to Express Support of Burlington Schools”
Burlington, VT For the sixth straight year, Burlington said “YES” to public schools on Town Meeting Day. Burlington School District’s proposed 2020-2021 budget passed with more than 70% of all votes cast.
“On behalf of the Burlington School District, I want to say thank you to everyone who voted on Town Meeting Day,” said Superintendent Obeng. “We are excited that we can now turn our focus to finishing this year strong while planning to implement next year’s changes. It is encouraging to know that the community continues to have confidence in the direction our District is heading.”
Obeng noted that BSD staff and board members worked hard to lessen the budget’s impact on taxpayers as much as possible. “In addition to providing budget support for the past several years, the Burlington community has also recently voted in favor of a 10-year capital plan bond and a bond for the BHS/BTC campus. We kept that in mind through this year’s budgeting process, knowing that we have asked a lot of voters recently. We are grateful that Burlington voters continue to express support of Burlington schools and the work we have done. Thank you, Burlington!”
