BSD Offers Public Tours of New High School and Tech Center – Grand Opening Block Party Scheduled for August 22
Burlington, VT Burlington’s new high school and technical center is nearly complete, and Burlington School District (BSD) is ready to show off the new campus! Tours will be offered every Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday until August. Guests are invited to sign up for a tour of the new building at bhstours.eventbrite.com.
In addition to tours, BSD will be holding a Grand Opening and Block Party on Saturday, August 22nd, from 11AM-2PM. The free, family-friendly celebration will include food, self-guided scavenger hunt tours, community partners, and more.
“We’ve received hundreds of requests to get inside the building, and we are thrilled to be able to offer structured and guided tours to the community,” said Superintendent Flanagan.
Flanagan noted that tours are being run by school board members, community volunteers, students, and staff members, and that the community response has been incredible. “There are so many people who want to tour the building that we’ve actually had to expand the number of available spots three times.”
However, Flanagan also stressed that because BHS staff are running summer programming in the building, tours are only available at the times listed on the ticket sales website.
“We need to ensure that our students and staff are safe, so it is really important that anyone who wants a tour uses the website to register. The goal is to show the building off as much as we can, but we have unfortunately had to turn away multiple people who have shown up to request tours on the spot,” said Flanagan.
Tours last roughly 90 minutes and include access to classrooms and the auditorium, gymnasium, library, locker rooms, kitchen, and more.
